Our Mission

Inspired by the incredible lives and epic journey of her family who were enslaved in Cambodian concentration camps during the Khmer Rouge regime, Los Angeles based jewelry designer, Mei Elizabeth Tan, had a dream to tell the story of her family and that of millions of other victims of oppression and bondage through her designs. Born from that dream was The RISE Collective and its Signature Survivor Cuff, a jewelry line and statement piece devoted to the fight for freedom against slavery. When you wear your cuff, you are actively standing in solidarity and support of survivors of slavery. With every purchase made, The RISE Collective will donate contributions that give victims and at-risk children of enslavement the resources they need to flourish. Mei Elizabeth dedicates these donations to the memory of her four year old brother who so bravely tried to survive his battle against slavery but lost the fight during her family’s escape. It is in his honor, that the collective aims to provide support along various avenues including healthcare, nutrition, education, vocational training, and women’s advocacy to empower survivors to fight a life of slavery, gain independence, and create generational change in their community. Because no matter who we are or where we are from, we are all survivors meant to be BORN FREE and to LIVE FEARLESS!
